Rum Cay is often quoted as being “The Unspoiled Jewel of the Bahamas”.  It’s true and would even go as far as saying that this is a forgotten island due to there only being 80 full time residents.  One of the first questions one may ask is "do they make rum on Rum Cay?" Unfortunately….no. Rum Cay was once named Santa Maria de la Conception but that all changed when a keg of rum washed up on shore therefore it seemed only logical to rename the island to Rum Cay!  Rum Cay history is full of tales of pirates, Arawak Indians, slavery and now….modern day pirates.  Come explore the sportfishing year round in search of Wahoo, Blue Marline, Tuna, Mahi-Mahi and reef fish.  And now there are dive services again allowing visitors to access the incredible reefs surrounding the island.

Rum Cay Fishing

Rum Cay wahoo Rum Cay map

The amazing thing about Rum Cay is that the fishing grounds are literally right around the bend from Sumner Point.  In fact we’ve seen boat hook up on blue marlin & wahoo as soon as they cleared the marina markers!  Throughout the year you will find blue marlin, wahoo, yellowfin & blackfin tuna, dolphin and reef fish such as grouper and snapper.

If you are looking to go fishing just let us know and we can hook you up!

Rum Cay Bonefishing

The Salt Pond offers some wonderful bonefishing that is accessible by golf cart!

To get set up with a bonefish guide call Josie at 242-472-1368!

Diving & Snorkeling

Rum Cay has some incredible diving with large drop-offs and deep reefs including huge 60 foot coral walls found at the Grand Canyon. You will also find good diving Pinder's Point with staghorn coral right off of Sumner Point.

Rum Cay now has full dive services as of late.  Rum Cay Divers is headed by Aniko Pekarik along with local diver Jay Jay.  For more information on diving out of Rum Cay just call us at 1-800-730-2148!

Rum Cay Beaches

Imagine walking on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and there is not even one other footprint.  Imagine the treasures that have washed on then off these beaches, never to have been found.  This is your chance to stroll on the softest sand with a coral hue and find that rare treasure.  Come and explore Rum Cay beaches.

Rum Cay Water Sports

Kite surfing and paddle boarding are all the rage on Rum right now. The marina is now renting out paddle boards. Bring you own kites and surf right in the Bay. Incredible especially during a Rum Cay sunset! Besides that you'll also find synchronized swimming.  Many beautifully choreographed routines can be learned to music such as Margheritaville by Jimmy Buffet or Drunk Again by Geno D.

Shark Show at the Marina

For those who love sharks then you can't miss the shark show at the marina at dusk. It usually is at its prime once the sportfish boats come in from fishing and they are cleaning their fish. Huge sharks come in for dinner. Many times one of the guys (filled with testosterone) will tie a fish carcuss onto a rope and go shark fishing. It's very exciting!
